Nothing beats Watches & Wonders, the major watch fair in Geneva, Switzerland. The annual event concentrates almost all new releases of all types of watches in a few days from almost all major watch makers. The scope is huge and the showmanship is almost unmatched.

For the week-long show, Patek Philippe and Rolex have recreated the same version of the multi-storey salon. Panerai has created a complete underwater landscape with seaweed-covered rocks. Ulysse Nardin has created a large metal shark sculpture (a representative claimed it was "tame" by the brand's standards). It all served as an eye-catching backdrop for a tsunami of new releases, and here are his GQ favorites from this year's Watches & Wonders.

The new Daydate 40mm

The Day-Date has always embodied the pinnacle of human achievement: prestige and luxury. Rolex is now launching the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 in Platinum 950. It features an ice blue dial and is the first to feature a fluted bezel. Previously he was made only in 18K gold, but the Day-Date is now available in the most exclusive metals.
